Farrell Summer Experiential Learning Grant Application

The Political Science Department provides financial support for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors to engage in summer experiential learning related to their political science studies. Applicants must be specific and forthcoming regarding other available sources of financial support. Students' financial need for the summer may be taken into account in determining award amounts. At the bottom of this questionnaire, please attach the following: - Proposal explaining what you will do during the summer and how the summer experiential learning activity is related to your political science studies (1 page maximum) - Documentation regarding the internship, organization, or program you plan to participate in - Official letter or email from the program confirming your participation, and any relevant attachments, showing acceptance into program/internship. - Resume - Unofficial transcript

With your signature, you certify that all the above information is correct and agree to notify the department immediately of any changes in your summer plans or if other funding comes through. The Department reserves the right to request you to return funds if they are not used for the stated purposes. If funding is approved, grant checks are issued 4-8 weeks after approval letter is sent to you. If you are in the University’s payroll system, the check may be issued electronically. If your check is mailed in hard copy, it will be sent to your address on file with the University. Please be sure your active address on file with the University is correct and is where you would like your check mailed. Awardees agree to provide the department with a reflection paper that describes their experience, including how the experience enhanced their understanding of politics by September 30th. The paper should be submitted to the department’s Undergraduate Program Assistant, Pamela Straw, via email: pamela.hines@northwestern.edu
