Speaker | Continuing Education Request Form
Speakers must fill out the requested information, e-sign, and submit in order to receive credit. If you are seeking speaker credits for multiple events, you will need to submit a separate form for each event.
Credit are available for Continuing Legal Education Credit (CLE), Continuing Professional Education (CPE), or a General Speaker Certificate for LIVE presentations only. The number of credit hours a speaker can earn varies on license type.
Calculation
Webinars/Virtual:
- 6 hours of credit are awarded (3 hours for preparation time plus 3 hours of presentation)
In-Person Session:
- 60 minute session: 4 hours of credit is awarded (2 hours of preparation time plus 2 hours of presentation)
- 75 minute session: 5 hours of credit is awarded (2.5 hours of preparation time plus 2.5 hours of presentation)
- 90 minute session: 6 hours of credit is awarded (3 hours of preparation time plus 3 hours of presentation)
- 120 minute session: 8 hours of credit is awarded (4 hours of preparation time plus 4 hours of presentation)
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Information:
Some states do not acknowledge speaker credit and other states award higher credits than others. The state board regulates how many hours an attorney can receive.
CLE Reporting Information:
AHLA will report speaker credit hours to these provider reporting states:
Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.
Self Reporting and a state specific form is required:
Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
States not listed are self-report and no state-specific form is required.
Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Information:
NASBA: Instructors, discussion leaders, or speakers who present a learning activity for the first time may receive CPE credit for actual preparation time up to 2 times the number of CPE credits to which participants would be entitled, in addition to the time for presentation, subject to regulations and maximums established by the boards of accountancy. For example, for learning activities in which participants could receive 8 CPE credits, instructors may receive up to 24 CPE credits (16 for preparation plus 8 for presentation).
General Certificate Information:
For other license types (Compliance Certification Board (CCB), Nursing Home Administrators (NHA), etc.) we can provide you with a general speaker certificate to report your hours to the licensing body. The maximum General Certificate hours is 4.
Certificates will be emailed from our Continuing Education Department. You will need to save any documentation for your records. Speaker Certificates are not available in your AHLA Speaker Portal and/or the Education Center.
