Invitation to Participate

Alignment Rockford’s Ready to Learn Movement invites you to participate in hosting or co-hosting The Incredible Years program, a social-emotional evidence-based training program for parents and caregivers of children one to five years old. The Ready to Learn Movement received the Community Parenting Support Saturation Grant from Illinois Action for Children in November 2020. This grant included The Incredible Years Program. The Incredible Years program works to prevent and treat young children's behavior problems and promote their social, emotional, and academic competence. The parent/caregiver skills program runs 9-12 sessions for parents/caregivers of children one to three years old or 18-20 sessions for parents/caregivers of children three to five years old. The program is used worldwide in schools and mental health centers and has been shown to work across cultures and socioeconomic groups. Participating organizations will run The Incredible Years. This includes hosting cohorts, providing individuals from their organizations to be trained as facilitators, and enrolling parents/caregivers in the program. Alignment Rockford will cover facilitator training and curriculum cost with funds provided by the Community Parenting Support Saturation Grant received from Illinois Action for Children.

About the Ready to Learn Movement

When we succeed, our whole community will align, transform, and work so that every child in every family is ready to learn, grow, and thrive when they begin Kindergarten. Our mission is to inspire, align, and collaborate with families, children, partner organizations, neighbors, and employers so that every child in every family is ready to learn. Our approach is grounded in the EDI data, the Alignment Process, and our commitment to racial equity. Working together, we will improve access, awareness, and quality in early childhood experiences, resources, and programs. Developmental gaps will shrink, families will be empowered and connected, and the wider community will demonstrate their commitment to early childhood readiness through policies and programs.
