LATINO ENROLLMENT INSTITUTE

COHORT 12 APPLICATION FORM

Thank you for your interest in joining the Latino Enrollment Institute (LEI) at the University of Notre Dame. This application will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Please read all of the information below before submitting your application.

LEI Summer Conference Overview

The LEI will take place Sunday, June 16—Wednesday, June 19, 2024. The conference will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and conclude at noon on Wednesday. As the school leader, your full participation is required on these dates.

In our research, we have found that the principal is the number one lever for change in a school. As such, the principal of the school must attend the LEI (as the governance in high schools is different, we do allow presidents and/or admissions directors to take the place of a high school principal). Furthermore, we ask that each principal invite one member of his or her team to attend the summer institute as well. Unaccompanied principals will not be accepted into the program. A school may invite more members of its team at an extra fee per person.

Additionally, we believe that the pastor plays an indispensable role in this work, so we invite the principal to ask his or her pastor to also attend the LEI, at no extra charge. It has been our experience that schools with strong pastor buy-in have been more successful, so we strongly encourage your pastor to attend the LEI.

Cost

Thanks to philanthropic support, the cost to schools for participation in the LEI is $1,500 per school. This fee covers on-campus accommodations, meals, and materials for two people, one of whom must be the school leader. Also included in this cost is the ongoing support of an LEI mentor via monthly Zoom calls, access to online monthly modules, and a mid-year follow-up gathering of principals in the cohort. A school may also choose to bring their pastor at no additional cost.

Please note, the $1,500 registration fee includes on-campus accommodations in the dorms for two people in individual rooms. The dorms are clean and conveniently located, but they are very basic. They are furnished with a twin bed, a desk, a closet unit, and a sink. There are communal bathrooms for each hallway.

Should you choose to forego the dorms, we have reserved hotel blocks at the Inn at Saint Mary's and the Hilton Garden Inn across the street from campus. Please note, however, that participants staying at the hotel will be responsible for booking their own accommodations. The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast. There is a special room block rate reserved for the Latino Enrollment Institute of $140 per night plus applicable taxes. To secure this rate, participants must call the hotel directly and mention the name of the conference. This special rate will expire on April 15, 2024.

Application Timeline

Applications must be received no later than April 1, 2024. Space is limited, so we encourage you to apply early. We will begin sending acceptance notifications on a rolling basis, and all schools will be notified by April 15 at the latest.

ASSEMBLING YOUR LEI TEAM

Since a principal's capacity to implement important and lasting changes is often accentuated by the support of a staff/faculty member with whom he or she works closely, we ask that you choose one member of your team to attend the summer conference with you. Please carefully consider bringing one of the following people (listed in alphabetical order).

  • Assistant Principal
  • Business Manager
  • Counselor
  • Enrollment and Marketing Director
  • Parent Volunteer (Madrina/Padrino)
  • School Board Member
  • Secretary / Front Office Manager
  • Teacher

Please note: The $1,500 fee only covers the school leader and one staff member at the LEI summer conference. However, a third spot is reserved for the pastor of each eligible school, at no additional charge, should he choose to attend as well.

Who on your staff/faculty would you consider bringing with you to the LEI summer conference and why? Please note, you are not bound to this decision. We are simply interested in your initial thoughts about who might work closely with you to implement the strategies learned at the LEI in your school.

Who do you plan to bring with you to the summer conference?
