Please take a moment to review a brief description of each group or committee. How can you make the most of your membership?

Docketing Affinity Group

The Docketing Affinity Group will engage in conversation on topics pertaining to supervising personnel involved the tracking of important deadlines in litigation and intellectual property departments. Our meeting topics will cover best practices, process improvements, and ideas for training docketing personnel. Whether you have a centralized docketing department or a less formal group of personnel tracking deadlines, you will find value in our discussions.

In-House Affinity Group

The In-House Affinity Group will engage in conversation on topics pertaining to the priorities, responsibilities, and challenges faced by practice support managers in corporate settings. What are best practices for working in-house? How can your team create value when you are not a revenue generator? If you are responsible for, or interested in becoming responsible for, in-house practice support management, this is the place for you to learn more.

Information Governance Affinity Group

The Information Governance Affinity Group will engage in conversation on topics pertaining to the of creating, retaining, and managing information. Do you want to learn more about how legal organizations' are handling record storage, retention, and electronic data conversion? In these meetings, we will discuss the supervisory issues related to records management and risk management techniques being used by peer organizations.

Intellectual Property Affinity Group

The Intellectual Property Affinity Group will engage in conversation on topics pertaining to the supervision of individuals who work in patent, trademark, copyrights and domain names. We will discuss issues related to the latest changes in IP regulations, recruitment of qualified IP professionals and vendors who can assist in providing cutting-edge services. Share your experience with other managers who are leading teams in this fast-growing specialty.

Litigation Support Affinity Group

The Litigation Support Affinity Group will engage in conversation on topics pertaining to handling contract attorneys, both new and "tried and tested" litigation support software, managing a litigation technology team, and working with attorneys and paralegals who are unfamiliar with what you do. Need to know more about what others in the industry are doing to support their e-discovery needs? Then this is the group for you.

New Managers Affinity Group

The New Managers Affinity Group will engage in conversation to discuss issues and obstacles that are being encountered as a new manager. Share these issues with other new managers that might be going through similar situations to ensure your professional growth and provide successful resolution reinforcement. The group will have experienced managers in the legal industry moderating the discussion. This will provide relevant and diverse perspectives as well as different styles of management.


Awards Committee

The IPMA maintains several awards that serve to recognize achievements in IPMA volunteerism, community service, and pro bono activities.

Business Partner Advisory Panel

Develops and nurtures IPMA relationships with business partner members and other industry service providers.

Communications Committee

Develop member and social media communications plans in coordination with the IPMA management team and participate in the editorial process and content development for Inspired Leadership, the IPMA's quarterly publication.

Compensation Survey Advisory Board

Provides direction for carrying out the IPMA's annual compensation survey initiative.

Conference Committee

This committee plans the educational content and selects presenters for the IPMA Annual Conference.

Diversity & Inclusion Committee

The events that occurred over the spring and summer of 2020 resulting in the movement for racial justice inspired the IPMA Board of Directors to form the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board. Over the past few months, the D&I Advisory Board has been discussing and formulating ideas for the creation of enhanced mentorship, training, and leadership opportunities through a more inclusive IPMA. The Advisory Board and Board of Directors have decided to turn the D&I Advisory Board into a standing committee.

Emerging Trends Committee

Explore recent and developing trends that affect the responsibilities of paralegal and practice support managers and the employees they manage. The information gathered is used to develop appropriate and timely educational content.

Management Resources Committee

Assist in the identification and development of content and speakers for training programs offered to IPMA members and prospective members. Develop best practices and resources to support member success in practice support management.

Membership Committee

Participate in the IPMA's efforts to provide relevant and valuable member benefits and coordinate the first-time attendee orientation at conference.
