Mt. SAC Caption Request

All employees: request captioning of multimedia materials at Mt. SAC. If you have multiple videos in a series that share the same characteristics, you can submit them on one entry. Otherwise, fill out the form once for each request.

Faculty: instructional videos that will be used in class are eligible for free captioning services through 3C Media. a CCC-provided video storage solution integrated in Canvas and accessed outside of Canvas at: 3C Media Solutions.. Please use this service first for qualifying videos.

Students are not eligible for caption services. For captioning accommodations, visit the ACCESS web page Info & Resources tab . To create captions, see the Mountie Student Hub in Canvas for more info.

Caption Request Form Instructions

Thank you for using the Mt. SAC video captioning services. To ensure our team can process your request efficiently, please follow these guidelines:

1. Submit Individual Video Links:

Please send only individual video links from YouTube or Vimeo. Do not submit playlists or links from other platforms such as TedTalk or other institutions. We can only process videos hosted on YouTube and Vimeo, or created by you.

2. Zoom or Canvas Studio Recordings:

If your videos are recorded via Zoom or Canvas Studio, please make sure the download option is enabled before you attach the links to your videos. For multiple videos, we recommend uploading them to a OneDrive folder and sharing the link with us. You can access OneDrive for free using your Mt. SAC email login.

3. Video Files:

If you have video files, please upload them to a OneDrive folder and share the link with us when submitting the form. This allows us to easily access and download the files for captioning.

4. Editing Videos for Captioning:

Unfortunately, we are unable to edit videos submitted for captioning. If you only need a portion of the video captioned, we suggest trimming the video first using tools like Zoom, VLC, Canvas Studio, or websites like Online Video Cutter.

Please Note:

Due to the large number of captioning requests across campus, it may take up to 1 week for us to process your request. We kindly ask for your patience before following up on the status of your submission. Thank you for your understanding!

High volume necessitates a longer turnaround

We are currently experiencing a high volume of caption requests. If you have more than 10 videos to submit, please email for service. Thank you for your understanding.

Closed caption file (.SRT): the preferred accessible format, where you upload a separate captioning file (.srt) to videos hosted in a platform (Canvas Studio, 3C Media, Screenpal, Vimeo, or others) to create closed captions. We only send the caption file back to you in .SRT format.

Open-captioned Video: video is returned with integrated captions. This is called "open captions" because the captions are always on and cannot be turned off. This is good for situations when you do not have the ability to upload captions to the original video.

No need to select anything here. This is a list of contact emails in case you have any captioning questions.
