Teen Academy Interest Form

The 23rd session of the Fishers Police Department Teen Academy will be held from June 9-13 2025. The academy will be held at Riverside Intermediate in Fishers between the hours of 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. each day. The Teen Academy is a five-day camp that is filled with law enforcement-type training to allow teens the opportunity to better understand how law enforcement works.

The purpose of the academy is to provide teens with an opportunity to better understand police officers and, more specifically, to strengthen the relationship between the officers of the Fishers Police Department and the community. FPD officers will provide an overview of their roles and responsibilities and give insight into some of the specialized units and skills within FPD. Topics will include how to make a traffic stop, how the K-9 unit works within the agency, the role of the Fishers Dive Team, how crime scene investigators process scenes, and the role of the Emergency Response Team. Teens will participate in fitness and drill activities, classroom instruction, and practical role play training each day. Participants should have a legitimate interest in the field of law enforcement. The academy is open to youth in junior high who have completed the seventh grade through students entering their senior year in high school. Applicants must be between the ages of 13-18 and enrolled in or planning to attend a junior high or high school in Fishers in the fall of 2025.

NEXT STEPS:

Registration is a two-step process. Completing the information in this form is the first step in the Teen Academy registration process. This information will be used for the background check process. During the background check, FPD officers will review school records for disciplinary issues, social media accounts, and conduct an in-house records search. Any incident will be reviewed on an individual basis.

Once pre-registration and the background screening have been completed and an applicant has been approved for participation, applicants will receive an email from FISHERS, IN with final registration information and waivers and camp details. Applicants need to complete all required information and waivers prior to being admitted to camp on the first day.

There is no fee for the academy, but advanced registration is required. NO WALK-INS WILL BE ACCEPTED. There are a total of 40 spots available for this year’s academy.

Registration will be open April 14, 2025-May 19, 2025 (or until the camp reaches capacity).
