2023 OIED DED Grantee Meeting Workshop Session Call for Proposals - Submission Form
Deadline for Submissions: May 31, 2023
The Office of Indian Economic Development (OIED), Division of Economic Development (DED) is seeking presentation proposals for breakout workshop sessions at our 2023 OIED DED Grantee Meeting. Workshops will be 1 hour in length and will be held concurrently during the morning and afternoon on August 1 and 2, and in the morning on August 3, 2023.

Location: Harrah's Cherokee Resort - Cherokee, NC
Theme: Building Connections - Strengthening Indigenous Communities Toward Economic Self Sufficiency
We are looking for presentations that focus on resources and best practices for grantees in the five key OIED DED funding areas:
- Native American Business Development Institute
- Indian Business Incubator Program
- Tribal Tourism Grant Program
- Tribal Broadband Grant Program
- Living Languages Program
The following criteria will be used to select proposals:
- Alignment to OIED DED mission, conference theme, and funding program areas
- Clarity of content and purpose with clearly stated goals and objectives explaining what participants will take away from the presentation
- Rationale as to why this information is important to its intended audience
- Practical application of material
OIED DED reserves the right to determine the appropriateness and relevance of each proposal to the 2023 Grantee Meeting. We may also edit workshop titles and descriptions for content and space availability. Because the team may receive more proposals than can be accommodated in the available slots, not all proposals will be accepted.
Call for Proposal Instructions:
- Fill out the form below with your name, contact information, and professional details. Please identify yourself and describe your workshop as you would like it to appear in the meeting martials.
- Attach your presentation abstract. The abstract must describe the presenter(s)' commitment to serving Indian Country. It should also provide information about the presentation's goals, objectives, and content, as well as speak to the criteria outlined above. Any other details about the format will be helpful, such as PowerPoints, handouts, and plans for participant engagement, etc.
- The OIED DED team will review all submitted proposals. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Selections will be finalized and submitters will be notified of decisions by June 15, 2023.
- The primary presenter will be the main point of contact for coordination and will be responsible for sharing information with the co-presenter(s).
Workshop and Presenter Guidelines:
- Each workshop will accommodate classroom style seating for up to 50 people. Each room will have a projector and screen, 2 wireless microphones, speakers, and a laptop connection and power source.
- Plan for a 45-minute presentation with 10-15 minutes for questions and discussion.
- Presenters will be responsible for providing their own travel, (flight, ground transportation, etc.), lodging, and meals for attending the meeting.
- All presentation documents will be uploaded electronically by the technical assistance team. All hard copies are the responsibility of the presenter. Final presentation files will be due to biatap@tribaltechllc.com by July 14, 2023.A participant survey will be distributed at the end of each workshop.
- Approved presenters will also need to complete a conference registration form, which will be provided upon notice of approval.
- All presentations should be in English (no translators will be provided).
- Use of copyrighted material without permission of the copyright holder is prohibited.
- Sales presentations for products and services are inappropriate for workshop sessions and will not be considered.
