2023 ESP Conference Call for Presenters
The National Education Association is seeking dynamic workshop proposals for its annual Education Support Professional (ESP) Conference. This year's conference theme is:
Joy, Justice, Excellence: The Strength of Educators. The Brilliance of Students. The Power of Community.
The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Seattle in Seattle, WA, March 24-26, 2023.
WORKSHOP GUIDELINES
The 2023 NEA ESP Conference committee invites you to join a unified effort to grow and strengthen the professional excellence of ESP members working in Pre-K through Higher Ed. We are seeking proposals for interactive learning opportunities that will deepen participants' connection to NEA’s commitment to growth and strength and that align to NEA's strategic objectives . Participants should leave with relevant strategies and tools that they can use in their career, sustainable solutions, new ideas and skill sets, and a plan of action for when they return home.
We are seeking interactive workshops impacting ESPs that focus specifically and deeply on current professional issues, such as worker shortages; privatization; health and student safety; peer mentoring; social-emotional learning; adverse childhood experiences and trauma; behavior management; communication skills; presentation skills; leadership skills; organizing; and career family specific content.
We are seeking proposals for all session blocks:
- 2-hour workshops (presenting Saturday and/or Sunday)
- 4-hour workshops (presenting Friday and Saturday morning)
- 8-hour, full-day, workshops (presenting Thursday)
WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS
- To meet NEA's overall professional practice standard and in keeping with the NEA Conference Alignment Team, all workshop proposals must align with at least one of the professional standards below. (NOTE: You are required to select the competency and PGC standard that best connects to the content of your session. Visit the websites below to learn more.)
- NEA's Leadership Competencies, www.nea.org/leadershipdevelopment, and
- NEA's ESP Professional Growth Continuum (PGC) Universal Standards (where applicable), www.nea.org/esppgc.
- Presenters are expected to present their workshop session at least two times, in whole or as a condensed version of the original submission for longer sessions.
- NEA will fund only ONE presenter for each workshop. Sessions that require two presenters will be considered for approval upon request and review. If your session requires an NEA funded co-presenter, you will be requested to provide rationale in your proposal.
- If you are a teacher member, you must include an ESP as your co-presenter. Make sure to include this step in the workshop planning process and in advance of submitting your workshop proposal.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
To have your workshop proposal considered, please fill out and submit the proposal form below in its entirety. Incomplete proposals will not be considered. A team of reviewers will evaluate all workshop submissions. Please provide detailed information in your session description that will allow reviewers to fully understand your workshop purpose and outcomes. All proposals must be received by midnight (PT) on Friday, October 28, 2022.
