Health Equity Mini-Grants

The Health Equity Mini-Grants provide up to $1,500 to trainees who seek to advance the mission of the Office of Diversity in Medical Education.

Eligibility

Current Stanford Residents and Fellows


Trainees may use funds for the following purposes:

  1. Conduct community engagement, education, or research to advance health equity.
  2. Attend a conference, as a form of professional development, to present your original health equity-focused research. You must be a confirmed presenter.
  • Not covered: Attendance for networking or general professional development.
  • Required: Proof of conference acceptance for presentation.


Funding Logistics

Our office will coordinate purchases on your behalf and will not provide reimbursements. As such, ODME cannot fund honoraria, stipends, and invoices, P.O - only costs that can be purchased using the ODME travel or purchase card are allowable. For travel-related expenses, funding is limited to conference registration, hotel accommodations, and flights.


Requirements

Recipients will present the outcomes from receiving the grant at the annual Diversity Awards & Networking Reception, in our newsletter, and website. This may include photos, testimonials, videos, and relevant data associated with the use of the funds.

Application Submission Instructions:

To complete your application, please ensure the following documents are attached based on the type of grant you are applying for:


  • Conference Grants: Attach an abstract, the conference presentation acceptance letter, and the itemized budget/breakdown of expected costs.
  • Research Grants: Attach a research proposal and anticipated research timeframe, along with the itemized budget/breakdown of expected costs.
  • Program Grants: Attach a detailed program description with the itemized budget/breakdown of expected costs.


These documents are required for your application to be considered complete.

Required Deliverables:

Deliverables must be submitted to odmegmediv@stanford.edu within 15 days of completion.


  • Conference Grants: Proof of completed presentation and, if applicable, a draft or published version of your scholarly work or presentation
  • Research Grants: A finished, written, first draft of your paper, including your mentor’s name and trainee collaborators
  • Program Grants: Qualitative and quantitative results (e.g. post-event/series survey, attendance numbers, event photos, and demographics)

Conference Agreement

By signing below, I acknowledge and agree to the following terms:


• Funding is limited to conference registration, lodging, and flights and must be purchased using the ODME Travel Card (T-Card). To arrange these purchases, please contact Sara Clemente at odmegmediv@stanford.edu.

• Roundtrip flights must not exceed $700, and any post-purchase flight changes will be the traveler’s responsibility and will not be reimbursed.
