Smoke Alarm Request Form

The Wilmington Fire Department offers free smoke alarm installation to owner occupants that reside inside the Wilmington City limits who meet one or more of the following criteria:


1.Requestor or someone in the residence is older than 65 years of age.

2.Children under the age of 18 are in the residence.

3.Requestor or someone in the residence is disabled, suffers with a chronic medical condition or mobility impairment.

4.Requestor or someone in the residence is a United States Veteran.

5.Owner / Occupant's household income is less than $30,000 a year.


The Wilmington Fire Department does NOT provide:


1.Smoke alarm installations in addresses preparing to be sold / put on the market to sell.

2.Smoke alarms to rental units or to landlords for installation in their rental units. 3.Battery replacement - Owner / Occupant must supply batteries for battery change requests.

4.Hard-wired smoke alarms.

5.Smoke alarm installation in addresses OUTSIDE the city of Wilmington city limits.
