NH/PI Health Equity Workgroup Interest Form

Formerly known as the Vaccine Implementation Collaborative, the Community Collaborative is a collective of members from many sectors. Envisioned jointly by community leaders and DOH staff in 2021, the Collaborative aims to uplift communities who experienced the devastating impacts of COVID-19. By co-designing recovery efforts, the Collaborative’s goal is to eliminate further harm on Black, Indigenous, communities of color, and all those facing harm due to systemic racism and oppression..

The DOH wants to partner with Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander community caretakers to form a statewide workgroup focusing on and addressing the vast health disparities that plague their communities due to systemic racism and erasure.

The COVID-19 pandemic was the tip of the iceberg concerning health disparities for NH/PI communities. We want to address health access challenges, elevate linguistic and culturally rooted health care, and advance data disaggregation and NH/PI inclusive health policy while providing health related resources for local networks. Additionally, the DOH hopes to create partnerships with community stewards across the state to focus a combined effort to improving the health and wellness of NH/PI people in both urban and rural settings.
