“Joel S. Pollack Memorial Scholarship” Application
Award Criteria:
*Applicant must be a student in good standing at a high school in Nassau, Queens, Kings or Richmond County.
* Nominee must be a student in good standing at a participating school.
* Nominee must have an exemplary academic record. Please include the transcript.
* Nominee must write an essay as noted on the application.
Big I Tri-County will award a $1,000 scholarship to the winning student in the graduating class of 2024. This award will be given in the form of a check mailed to the education institution/college selected by the winner, to be placed in the student’s account for educational needs.
To apply for this scholarship you will need to:
* Write an essay on the following: Tik Tok fueled thefts of cars by teaching people how to easily steal vehicles made by certain manufacturers. The insurance industry responded by charging very high rates and/or refusing to write new auto insurance policies for people who own those vehicles that are easy to steal. How does this impact consumers? Are insurance companies justified to take this approach? What could be a potential solution? (Feel free to talk to an independent insurance agent to ask them how they are handling.)
* Complete the online application.
* Provide the name and contact information of your guidance counselor.
* Upload your essay in pdf format answering the above question.
* Upload a copy of your transcripts, signed by a school official.
Application must be submitted by March 22, 2024.
