1. What is the purpose of the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub?
As part of the Chapter Empowerment Program, PMI is aiming to support and amplify high-quality chapter event speakers to enhance the membership value proposition. As such, PMI is highlighting speakers that have been globally well-received, giving chapters access to a larger selection of speakers.
2. How will PMI showcase the speakers associated with the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub?
The PMI Chapter Speakers Hub will be a focus of the PMI Volunteer Resource Center which houses PMInsight. Chapter leader access to the resource center and the hub is driven by privileges granted in the PMI Component System.
3. How are the speakers chosen for this program?
This program will highlight speakers recommended by chartered chapters in good standing. Speakers will primarily come from a list generated by chapters in addition to those initially nominated PMI Fellows and speakers already vetted by the virtual communities listed on projectmanagement.com. Self-nominations to PMI Chapter Speakers Hub will not be accepted.
4. How can a chapter recommend a speaker for the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub?
Chapters may contribute to the speakers listed and showcased in the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub by filling out this form. PMI has final approval of speakers included in the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub.
5. What are the requirements for event speakers recommended for the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub?
Any speaker can be nominated if they are able to speak to Project Management concerns or a topic(s) that is applicable to project management, with the following restrictions:
- PMI volunteer groups include 1) PMI Board of Directors and their Board Support Committees, 2) volunteers serving on PMI Chapter Boards, and 3) volunteers in activities supported by PMI’s Global Operations Center, including Member Advisory Group members, Regional Mentors and the Committees and Task Teams that support them.
- The following group members are not eligible to be listed in the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub:
- PMI Employees
- PMI Contractors
6. How will chapters know which speakers are members of PMI Chapter Boards?
Speakers listed in the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub who are current members of PMI volunteer groups will be designated as such in their profile. Once a speaker is no longer a member of a PMI volunteer group, their designation as such in their profile will be removed.
7. Can chapters select event speakers outside of what are listed in the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub?
Chapters may select event speakers who are not listed in the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub.
8. Will PMI negotiate speaker rates on behalf of the chapters?
The PMI Chapter Speakers Hub is a resource for chapters to select quality speakers for their event. Chapters are responsible for all fee negotiations with chosen event speakers.
9. How often can chapters expect updates to the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub?
Updates to the PMI Chapter Speakers Hub will happen on a rolling schedule, based on submissions by chapters.
10. Does this program take the place of any other similar program in a chapter’s geographical region?
No, this program is complimentary to any pre-existing program in a chapter’s region. Please reach out to your regional Chapter Engagement Partner with any questions.
