Request for Technical Assistance: 2019 SBA PRIME

Funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. BACKGROUND The National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in San Antonio, TX with a strong record of providing technical assistance (TA) and access to capital to non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. NALCAB will provide TA to microenterprise development organizations (MDOs) to build their capacity to access U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) resources and/or to develop microenterprise training and services. The overall goals of this TA are to: Increase access to SBA programs by Hispanic-serving MDOs; Increase overall access to capital for small businesses that receive development services from these MDOs; Increase the quality and cultural-relevance of the development services provided by the MDOs; and Improve the sustainability of Hispanic-serving MDOs. Technical assistance available through the NALCAB 2019 SBA PRIME Program is provided at no cost to the organization. EXAMPLES OF AVAILABLE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE • Prepare applications for SBA programs and resources • Create sustainability plans for your program and/or organization • Design or refine your system for tracking and reporting data • Identify and apply for additional financial resources • Design or refine your small business technical assistance curriculum • Design or refine elements of your program delivery • Integrate financial capability services into your small business services PROJECT PERIOD February 1, 2020 – September 30, 2020 NALCAB will deliver an average of about 5 - 10 hours of direct, one-on-one TA for a project period of up to 8 months. NALCAB will also provide webinars and peer-to-peer learning opportunities within the NALCAB Network to further support TA recipients and create a community of practice where best practices are shared. ELIGIBILITY Hispanic-serving non-profit microenterprise development organizations (MDOs), and microenterprise development programs that are located in and provide services within the United States and its territories are eligible to apply. NALCAB members and non-members are eligible to apply. Eligibility will be verified by NALCAB. RECIPIENT REQUIREMENTS Organizations that receive TA will be required to assign specific staff (Point of Contact) to work and communicate with NALCAB staff and consultant TA providers in a timely manner. Recipients must also complete a closeout report at the end. EVALUATION CRITERIA • Applicants will be evaluated on the clarity of their proposal and outcomes. Bonus points will be awarded in the selection process for applicants from the following markets: Birmingham, AL; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX; Kansas City, MO; Miami, FL; New Orleans, LA; Omaha, NE; Portland, OR; San Antonio, TX; Seattle, WA; Watsonville, CA; and Yakima, WA.
