ARIAS∙U.S. members may submit ethical questions for consideration by the ARIAS∙U.S. Ethics Committee by using this request form. By using this form, the submitting member preserves anonymity and the ARIAS∙U.S. Ethics Committee will not be able to identify the submitting member. In submitting requests for Ethics Advisory Opinions, ARIAS∙U.S. members are cautioned not to disclose any identifying information or information subject to a confidentiality order, protective order, or similar strictures. By using this form, the submitting member confirms that no confidential information is being submitted with this form.
Ethics Advisory Opinions are intended as guidance and not to supplant or contradict the Canons and Comments comprising the ARIAS∙U.S. Code of Conduct (the “Code”). Rather, Ethics Advisory Opinions are designed as explanations of how the Canons and Comments apply to specific circumstances.
The ARIAS∙U.S. Ethics Committee does not pass upon questions of law or matters currently in litigation or arbitration; those matters are within the authority of the court or arbitration panel to determine. Ethics Advisory Opinions are intended to assist members with a better understanding of the Code, and are not meant to be relied upon, cited, or otherwise used by parties in any disputes or by courts in construing ethical obligations under the Code.
Not every submitted question will be addressed. Questions may be re-stated or genericized.
