AHLA Speaking Proposal - Health Law and Compliance Institute

November 5-6, 2020 Virtual Proposals due: July 17, 2020 To submit a proposal, please fill out the information to the right. If you are submitting a proposal with co-speakers, please be sure to confirm their availability before submitting the proposal. All people listed on the proposal will be notified that the proposal has been submitted. Please keep in mind the following information: 1. Different perspectives matter. Great topics often include speakers from different backgrounds – private attorneys, in-house counsel, government, consumers, providers, senior and junior – pairing up to present different views on the submitted topic. 2. One session cannot have two speakers from the same firm/organization. 3. AHLA and the program planning committees value and seek diverse and inclusive participation within the Association and share a commitment to having speakers represent a broad cross-section of gender, race, ethnicity, creed, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, and disability. 4. Suggest a very advanced or masters level topic. Most sessions submitted hit the “intermediate” level of audience knowledge. We’d like to include some very advanced topics submitted by qualified speakers If selected as a speaker, the information you provide will be used in the program brochure. Please be sure the spelling is correct and all relevant titles, information about degrees, and credentials are included. For questions, please contact Laurie Garvey at lgarvey@healthlawyers.org.

Include a short description or list four to six bullet points that describes the specific issues you plan to cover (please note that sessions are one hour in length.)

Speakers at AHLA programs are expected to provide a current, practical, and quality oral presentation, PowerPoint presentation, with an accompanying paper. The detailed paper and practical take-aways turned in by speakers are what distinguish our programs from those of our competitors. In addition, many states review the materials and often will not grant approval of sessions that do not meet their material requirements. The Association encourages speakers to provide practical take-aways, such as sample contract language, draft policies, or checklist as a part of their written materials. Please indicate what type of take-aways you anticipate providing.
