What is Blight?

Love Your Block has the goal of eliminating blight in local neighborhoods. Through more than 200 hours of deliberation with Westside residents, blight has been defined as the deterioration or decay of urban and natural areas due to age and neglect. To our Westside residents this looks like abandoned properties, litter, criminal activity, graffiti, overgrown lots, vacant parks and more. These are things that displace a sense of community. Proposed projects should aim to address issues of blight.
