  • TA and AI positions require you to be available and in town through the exam period - failure to do so will jeopardize future appointments.
  • PHYSICS STUDENTS: deadline to withdraw this application is 1 month prior to the first class day - you will be required to TA (if the department needs you) if you fail to withdraw your application. There is no exception to this rule.

The majority of Physics TA appointments require student contact. To be eligible for a Physics TA appointment with student contact you must receive a score of 230 or higher on the Oral English Proficiency Assessment.

  • If you are Conditionally or Not Certified you will be considered lower in priority for a position. Send an email to graduate@physics.utexas.edu as soon as your status changes.
  • If you do not pass the assessment and do become "fully certified" within your first year of graduate school, we will not hire you for the 2nd year in a TA position.
