JMU Honors College Small Grant & Scholarship Application
Overview
The Honors College offers grants and scholarships to support students' scholarly and engaged learning activities. These awards are most commonly used to offset costs of student presentations at disciplinary, cross-disciplinary, and honors conferences and to support Honors capstone projects, though we will consider requests for other activities.
- Please note, the Honors College has a separate process in place to request support for study abroad experiences. Contact Dr. Felix Wang if you have questions about the appropriate avenue for your request.
The maximum award amount for Spring and Summer 2025 is $750.
Awards are based on the proposal's merit and a student's level of engagement in the life and community of the Honors College. Financial need may considered.
Application Information
You should submit a request as soon as you know you will need financial support. Requests are reviewed on a rolling basis, but funds are limited and the College will cease review of proposals once the semester's allotment of funds is exhausted.
The application process requires that you provide the information requested on this form and submit the following supplementary materials:
- A statement that describes:
- how will use the funds you are requesting,
- how the proposed activity will enhance your undergraduate experience, and
- your current and past involvement in the life and community of the JMU Honors College.
- A one-page budget indicating
- your anticipated expenses for the proposed experience during the upcoming academic year,
- the amount of support you expect to receive from other sources (e.g. family, scholarships, etc.), and
- a list of other departments from whom you have requested financial support.
Please note the Honors College cannot reimburse expenses you incur before a request is reviewed and approved.
