RMIT School of Science - Data Analytics student projects

To provide an authentic work-integrated learning (WIL) experience, industry partners are invited to submit challenges for a project topic. The projects must offer realistic, challenging, yet achievable for teams of final year undergraduate and postgraduate students, and must add real value to existing, anticipated or simulated problems in the industry.

The students in this course work approximately 10 hrs/week (flexibly in addition to other courses) on the project for 10 - 12 weeks.

Semester start dates:

Semester 1, 2025 - 3 March 2025

Semester 2, 2025 - 21 July 2025

Students in the Analytics program have conducted projects in the following (not limited) areas:

(a)data wrangling and data visualisation

(b) statistics modelling, e.g., time series analysis, forecast, classification, multivariate analyses, genomics analysis, quality control and experimental design

(c) predictive modelling (random forest tree, neural network, support vector machine etc), natural language processing, image processing. Students have considerable programming skills in R, Python, structured query language (SQL) and SAS.

WIL Agreement

All organisations hosting RMIT students on a work placement must sign a Work Integrated Learning Relationship Agreement. The WIL relationship agreement is a legal arrangement with clauses such as confidentiality, insurance coverage and intellectual property. Copies of the WIL agreement are available to read prior to entering into the agreement.

If you have any questions, please contact stem-industry@rmit.edu.au.

Note for Academic Staff: If you are working with an industry partner please ask them to complete this form so the WIL team can facilitate a WIL agreement for the project directly. Thank you.
