IGNITE Program Application

The IGNITE Program is designed to help students succeed in college and require a strong commitment from students to be truly effective. Support Services are available, once admitted into IGNITE:


  • Intentional Community  
  • Educational & Career Planner (housed in the DEIC)
  • Peer Mentor   
  • Quarterly Textbooks 
  • Loaner Laptop (if needed & available) 
  • Achievement Scholarship
  • Hardship Grants
  • Early registration for classes
  • Access to the Student of Color Conference 
  • Life and academic skills (how to advocate for yourself, how to study…)
  • Identity development (how to believe in your abilities)


Please note the IGNITE program does not currently admit International Students. Please visit only for additional ways we can support you, as an international student.

Program Expectations:

It takes a strong commitment on the part of each student to be truly effective in the IGNITE program. Each student’s individual performance impacts the entire program; therefore, each student must agree to act responsibly and to be accountable for the attainment of educational goals.


Program Expectations:

  1. I agree to fill out FASFA every academic year.
  2. I agree to check-in and/or meet with my Peer Mentor as requested during each quarter.
  3. I agree to attend quarterly forums, as requested during each quarter OR watch the forums online via the IGNITE Program Canvas Shell.
  4. I understand the importance of discussing adding/dropping courses with my Financial Aid Advisor and my Educational & Career Planner before dropping/adding courses.


Academic Expectations:

  • I agree to attend all enrolled classes on time and to complete all tests and assignments.
  • I agree to notify my instructors of any absences and to make up any missed assignments as soon as possible.
  • I agree to actively participate using Compass, Zoom, and Canvas (online tools) to schedule and communicate with SPSCC staff.
  • If my quarterly GPA falls below 3.0, I understand that I should reach out to my Instructors and Educational & Career Planners so they can arrange extra academic support to help me be successful.
  • If my quarterly GPA falls under 2.0, I understand I will be put on academic probation (as per college SPSCC policy).


I understand that any incorrect information on this application may affect my eligibility to receive services from the DEIC.

Violation Policy:

  1. The first time you will not be eligible to get textbooks the following quarter.
  2. The second time you will be dismissed from the program for one quarter.
  3. The third time you will be dismissed permanently from the program.
