TNCC and ENPC
Certification Process and Request
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) prepare emergency nurses for life-threatening trauma and pediatric cases when every second counts. These courses give you the knowledge, critical thinking skills and training needed to provide high-quality nursing care.
Both courses consist of two portions. The first is an online course followed by an in-person, hands-on skills test. Please note, the online portion must be completed prior to attending the skills test.
Prerequisites
- Participants must be a registered nurse who possesses a current unrestricted nursing license to receive verification.
- Licensed practical nurses and paramedics are eligible to attend all portions of the course and obtain CNE hours, but are not eligible for provider status verification.
Course Format
A variety of learning methodologies are included to cater to every learning style, including:
- Provider manual
- Online modules
- Simulation
- Instructor-led classroom discussions and skill stations
Provider manual: The latest edition of the TNCC and ENPC Provider Manuals include evidence-based content developed by emergency nursing experts.
Online modules: Online pre-course modules with links to additional information are provided 30 days prior to the course date to let you learn at your own pace, apply what you learn and receive immediate feedback, and refer back to information at any time. The modules are a complete case study process — taking you through an entire sequence of care.
Live simulation: TNCC and ENPC include training using both an individual and team approach. Skills stations offer you the opportunity to practice patient assessments and interventions in a controlled environment.
Instructor-led classroom discussions and skills stations: TNCC and ENPC are 1.5-day intensive courses taught by expert instructors.
