Responsibilities of Board and Committee Members

  • Attending regular Board and/or Committee meetings
  • Board meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of the month 10 X per year; Committee meetings vary in number and time/date
  • Attending the Annual General Meeting (late September)
  • Preparing for Board and Committee meetings by reviewing materials in advance
  • Contributing your considered opinion while enabling and respecting the opinion and contributions of others
  • Acting selflessly, making decisions, and voting on governance decisions solely in the best interests of PARC
  • Ensuring the mandate, vision, mission, values, and strategies of the organization are being followed
  • Working collaboratively with the Executive Director and staff assigned to Committees


Positions are for a two-year term with the possibility of renewal

To be Eligible to serve as a Board or Committee Member, you must

  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Be a member of PARC (membership is free)
  • Have a commitment to PARC’s mandate, vision, mission, values, and strategies
  • Not work for PARC in excess of 50 hours per month, or be the immediate family of someone working at PARC

SPECIFIC VOLUNTEER INTEREST

Develops, coordinates and promote PARC activities that will raise public awareness of social justice issues in our neighbourhood and the City of Toronto.

 

Leads Board and Committee recruitment & nominations, including candidate education and orientation; Board evaluation; reviews, updates and proposes new organizational policies; “good governance” oversight.

 

Oversees organizational budgeting, financial planning & policy-making, and financial reporting, including working with the Director of Finance to create the annual Audited Financial Statements.

 

Oversees PARC’s Human Resources strategy and the regular review and revision of the Executive Director performance appraisal process.

 

Assists PARC staff in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of its fundraising, external communications, and community volunteer programs.

 

I’m not available for Board or Committee to work at this time but have specific skills I’m willing to volunteer to PARC programs on an occasional basis.
