In-House Counsel Program Call for Educational Content

Due Friday, December 1, 2023

To submit a topic idea or a submission to speak for the In-House Counsel Program, please fill out the form.

The AHLA’s In-House Counsel Program is the premier opportunity for experienced legal and compliance leaders to share practical approaches and solutions to the unique challenges and growing responsibilities of in-house advisors in the health care industry.

As we prepare for the 2024 In-House Counsel Program, we are looking for interactive, and engaging sessions that will focus on core topics for in-house teams, including:

  • In-house department structure and staffing
  • Outside counsel relationships
  • Corporate governance
  • Operational excellence and key performance indicators
  • Contract management
  • Personal and professional career development
  • Emerging applications for legal technology
  • Collaboration among legal, compliance, risk management, and other strategic partners

Please fill out the form if you:

  • Have an issue you are facing or is of interest and would like to learn about it.
  • Would like to speak, but do not have a topic idea.
  • Have a topic/session idea and would like to speak on that topic. Note: If you are submitting a session proposal with co-speakers, please be sure to confirm their participation before submitting their name. One program session cannot have two speakers from the same firm/organization.

AHLA values and seeks to advance and promote Inclusive, Diverse, Equitable, and Accessible (IDEA) participation within the Association. We are committed to having volunteers represent a broad cross-section of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, and disability. Different perspectives matter. Great topics often include speakers or authors from different backgrounds – private practice attorneys, in-house counsel, government representatives, consumer advocates, consultants, academicians, senior and junior – pairing up to present different views on the submitted topic.

Speakers at AHLA programs are expected to provide a current, practical, and quality oral presentation, PowerPoint presentation, with an accompanying paper. The detailed paper and practical take-aways turned in by speakers are what distinguish our programs from those of our competitors. In addition, many states review the materials and often will not grant approval of sessions that do not meet their material requirements. The Association encourages speakers to provide practical take-aways, such as sample contract language, draft policies, or checklist as a part of their written materials. Please indicate what type of take-aways you anticipate providing.
