For Minor Works
Minor works involve an external perimeter breach or internal work to a PC1 or PC2 certified facility, which meets the criteria listed below and, therefore, does not require suspension or variation of certification.
This form is to notify the IBC of:
Commencement of minor works, and
Completion of minor works.
Notification of commencement of minor works must be received at least two working days prior to the intended commencement of work.
Before starting your notification, read the guidance below to ensure the proposed work meets the criteria for notification. If the work does not meet these criteria, you will need to apply for suspension or variation of the certification for the duration of the work.
Guidance on minor works suitable for notification
The following criteria must be met:
- Short duration, e.g. 1–2 whole days or 2–3 hours per day over several days. All work should be completed within one week. If the duration of work is expected to extend beyond a week, the certified area should either be suspended or varied to remove the work site(s).
- External perimeter breach: Work that only breaches a small area of the facility perimeter, e.g. less than one square metre at a time. Examples of minor works include the removal of a ceiling tile to conduct repairs, or penetration of a perimeter wall to install electrical cables. The work site(s) must be securely covered when not being worked on.
- Internal work: Examples of minor works may include installation of light fittings, installation of power points, re-painting walls, or repair of water damage. There is no limit to the size of internal work. Please note that if the works will result in a change to the floor plan (i.e. adding/removing rooms within the existing certified area), then a suspension and/or variation application should be submitted and not a notification of minor works form.
- Access to the work site(s) (facility) must be restricted while work is undertaken (e.g. using signs), and doors are to remain closed except during entry and exit.
- Prior to starting work, the work site(s) must be inspected to ensure that all GMOs have been removed or correctly stored.
- Facility staff must be notified in advance and informed that no dealings with GMOs can be undertaken at the work site(s) for the duration of work. Dealings with GMOs must be isolated from the work site(s), e.g. behind closed doors.
By continuing with this form, you are confirming that you have read the above criteria and understand that your facility meets the criteria for minor works.
Following completion of minor works
The facility must be inspected against the relevant version of the certification guidelines by a suitably qualified/experienced person, who has acquired through training, qualifications or experience, or a combination of these, the knowledge and skills enabling that person to assess the facility’s compliance with the conditions of certification.
The IBC must be notified about completion of work and facility inspection without delay, and prior to recommencement of dealings with GMOs at the work site(s). Notifications of complete work should be submitted via email at: ibc@adelaide.edu.au
