The MVPCC Institute promotes understanding of topics and builds skills on the following topics:
The Public Health Approach to Violence Prevention-
Build skills to reduce violence in communities. Learn about the social determinants of health and racial equity. Learn about community-level responses that address the violence before it begins, at the first sign of risk and after it happens.
N.E.A.R Science (Neurobiology, Epigenetics, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and Resilience -
Learn about how our brain works under stress. Learn how trauma can be passed down from generation to generation. Learn how to identify adverse experiences that can impact a child's development and their response to stress.
De-escalation and Conflict Resolution Skills -
Learn the problem solving and communication skills necessary for building strong relationships, settling disagreements peacefully, and de-escalating situations.
This training will be in-person on Feb 24, 2024, from 10am to 3pm.
Lunch will be provided.
The institute will be from 10 AM to 3:00 PM.

Upon completion, participants receive a certificate of completion, and other violence prevention resources. New champions are invited to attend “spotlight trainings” monthly to continue to build on skills gained in the institute.
