Crystallography (CRY) and Diffractometry

Form for requesting crystallographic- and/or diffractometer-based training in the IMSERC facility.

You MUST have completed IMSERC Account Request first before submitting for Crystallography training. If you have not done so, please complete this training HERE before proceeding.

Briefly describe what you are wanting to gain from getting trained.

If you are with NU, you must enter an NU email address

Enter your NU NetID (e.g., abc1234 or abc123). All NU affiliates have a NetID. If you are not affiliated with NU, type 'N/A'.

If Northwestern, please provide your PI's last name. If external to Northwestern, please provide company, institution and/or research group name.

Please put the appropriate NU chart string to be charged for training efforts. If you are an external / non-NU affiliation user, please enter "External Account."

Completion of CHEM 432 is a prerequisite to be trained on IMSERC single crystal instruments.

If you have operated diffractometers, please select "Yes" and then type in what instrument/diffractometer you have used. If you only performed crystallographic data analysis previously, please select "Data Analysis Only." Otherwise, select "No Experience."

Please estimate the frequency with which you would expect to need access to a diffractometer.


Be advised: for single crystal diffractometer usage, it takes about 3 training sessions to be an independent user. Consider whether you desire to be trained or simply submit a sample (IMSERC Project Request).

Remember, CHEM 432 or equivalent is a prerequisite for gaining access to single crystal instruments. Please review your answer above for "Have you taken CHEM 432?"
