CS Petitions Committee Requests

This form is for CS undergraduate students that are interested in petitioning any courses that fall under either of these categories

  • Any requirements located on the second page of your CSBS program sheet; or
  • Any requirements found on the CS Minor program sheet


This form will be CLOSED every Wednesday (12pm PST) of Week 2 and Week 7 each quarter (excluding Summer quarters) and wont reopen until Week 3 and Week 8 pass. Petitions should be submitted at least one quarter before you plan on applying to graduate in Axess.


The CS Petitions Committee meets two times in the quarter (excluding Summer quarters) and will email you directly after your petition has been reviewed.


Important Note: Submitting this form does NOT guarantee that the CS Petitions Committee will approve your request. Students should always have a back-up plan to satisfy the CS program requirements.

List your numeric Stanford University ID (i.e. 01234567).

 

This will allow us to contact you with the CS Petition Committee's decision.

Please complete all relevant and required fields in this section.


You are welcome to include more than one (1) petition request in a single SmartSheet form submission (a maximum of three course petitions per submission).

 
 

Please choose the specific track to best evaluate your request.

 

Please list the specific requirement title for your petition (i.e. Track B requirement in the Depth section).


Take into consideration that Senior Project and Writing in the Major (WiM) requirements are strictly limited to the specific set of approved courses outlined on your program sheet.

 
 

Please list the specific course number and title for your petition (i.e. CS129: Applied Machine Learning).

 
 

Provide a clear argument(s) for the course you're petitioning and the reason you deem it an appropriate alternative to a course you'd otherwise be required to take.

 
 

Feel free to include any supporting documents that you deem appropriate for your petition (i.e. an professor endorsement, a course syllabus, etc).
