Soil insect pest sampling
Drs. Fei Yang and Bob Koch, corn and soybean entomologists from the University of Minnesota, are initiating a new project to evaluate pests that feed on seed and seedlings in corn and soybean fields.
Please fill out this form if you would like to allow the research team to sample your field(s). Researchers will visit each field twice to set and check bait traps, collect a few soil and crop samples, and shouldn't interfere with your farming operations. The results will help develop sampling methods and thresholds for managing seed and seedlings pests in corn and soybean production.
Individual cooperator information will be kept confidential when reporting results.
This information will help the research team plan sampling days.
The researchers are particularly interested in fields with these characteristics. Please indicate any or all that apply to the fields that they may sample.
If the field has been planted, please provide the planting date. If the field hasn't been planted, we will ask for an update at a later time. This will help the team determine when to sample your field.
