The Chief Scout’s Unsung Heroes Award is an annual award scheme that recognises Scouts aged 4-24 who have shown courage, kindness and our Scouts values, run by The Scout Association a company incorporated by Royal Charter under registration no RC000547 and charity registered in England and Wales under registration no 306101 with its registered office at Gilwell Park, Chingford, London, E4 7QW, in collaboration with Dwayne Fields and funded by the Vasey Foundation. (the “Award Scheme”).

1. Adult Members of The Scout Association may nominate Eligible Youth Members for the Award Scheme who they believe have demonstrated courage, kindness and our Scouts values (the “Award Criteria”)

2. An Eligible Youth Member is any young person who is a current Youth Member of the Scout Association and aged between 4 and 24 on the 31 January 2025.

3. Nomination must be received by completing the Award nomination form by no later than midnight on 31 January 2025 (the “Closing Date”). Any nomination sent by email will not be considered.

4. An Eligible Youth Member may only be nominated once.

5. Adult Members may not nominate an Eligible Youth Member that is related to them or their spouse or partner in any way.

6. Following the Closing Date a panel comprised of the UK Youth Lead and at least 3 members of her team will review the nominations and choose 20 winners assessed against the Award Criteria to receive a cash Award of £250.00. (the “Award”)

7. Only the Adult Members who nominated the winners will be notified by email by the 31 May 2025 if their nominated Eligible Youth Member has been chosen by the panel to receive an Award. Winners’ names may be published on the Scout Association website and on the Scouts official social media accounts.

8. Awards will be sent to the Eligible Youth Member’s Scout Group and the Scout Group shall be responsible for distributing the Award to the Eligible Youth Member.

9. If the winner cannot be contacted within 28 days of being notified of the Award, or if the Award is rejected, or the winner is disqualified for any reason The Scout Association reserves the right to select a substitute winner.

10. The Scout Association reserves the right to vary these terms and condition, including the amount of winners, or amount of the Award and may choose to cancel the Award Scheme at any time.

11. No purchase is necessary to enter the Award Scheme.

12. Submission of a nomination Form will be deemed to constitute acceptance of these terms and conditions.

13. The Scout Association’s decision is final and binding in all matters and no correspondence shall be entered into.

• Please note, you are required to have gained consent to share the personal data of the young people nominated with The Scout Association. Where the nominees are young people, under the age of 18, the consent will need to be from their parent/carer. To obtain this, please ask the parent/carer to fill in this consent form and return it to you to keep safe: www.scouts.org.uk/parentconsentform

• If the young person is chosen for an award, the personal data of the nominee will be passed to The Scout Association for the purpose of assessing the nomination and making awards. It will not be used for any further purpose. This includes the name and citation for the nominee. At this stage we will request the completed consent form.

• The consent form includes a link to this nomination form so that parents/carers are aware of the process and the Scouts Data Protection Policy: www.scouts.org.uk/about-us/policy/data-protection-policy/

• The personal data in this form is required to capture the details of the nomination being made and the details of yourself, as nominator, so we may contact you about this nomination. It will not be used for any other purpose or shared with third parties with the exception of SmartSheet for this form.

• In completing the nomination form you may include sensitive information about a young person. This can only be provided when consent has been sought from the nominees Parent/Carer. The data will be held on a password protected document with restricted access.

• The personal data is being used for this purpose and only this purpose. The Scout Grants Committee who are administering the Chief Scout’s Unsung Heroes fund takes your personal data privacy seriously.

• We will keep the data we capture from this form for seven years in line with financial records keeping legislation. The personal data in this form will be retained for 6 months after the delivery of awards to assist with responding to queries.
