Ray Williams Outstanding Leadership Award
Purpose and Eligibility:
Sponsored by the Texas Community College Instructional Administrators (TCCIA), the Ray Williams Outstanding Leadership Award is given annually to recognize an instructional administrator, who exemplifies leadership by:
- Making a substantial impact in the college's effectiveness
- Demonstrating creativity and innovation in his/her professional responsibilities
- Demonstrating sustained commitment to instructional issues and challenges
- Influencing a statewide initiative or project
It is the expectation that a recipient of this award has exerted influence at the college level in one or more of the following areas:
- Institutional effectiveness
- Effective management
- Curriculum development
- Transformation of organizational environment, and/or
- Faculty development
Nominees must be an administrator in a Texas community college and may likely hold one of the following positions: President, Chief Academic Officer, Dean, Division Head, Director, Associate/Assistant Dean, Department Chair, and Program Coordinator. There may be instructional leaders with other titles, however, who would also qualify for this award through their role and responsibilities, in relation to the criteria listed above. Current members of the TCCIA Board of Directors are not eligible for nomination.
Nomination Process:
The nomination form should be used to submit nominations. It may be accompanied by a letter of support from the President or Board of Trustees of the nominee’s college and a maximum of two additional letters of support. Nominations should be submitted as an attachment to the nomination form or can be emailed directly to washburnd@grayson.edu.
Nominations are to be made by May 9 to the Awards Committee. Award recommendations will be made on or before May 13 to the TCClA Executive Committee from the Awards Committee. Executive Committee approval will be given by May 16 to the Awards Committee.
Award Presentation:
The awards will be presented at the annual TCCIA meeting on Monday, June 16, 2025 in Grapevine.
