Request for Remote 3rd or 4th Day

INSTRUCTIONS:


This form is to be completed by full-time faculty requesting to meet their 3rd or 4th day requirement on campus through remote remote synchronous office hours.


3-Day Campus Requirement -Faculty Teaching Regular up to 20LHE

  • Per Faculty Agreement (Article 10.A.1), "Full-time professors must be on campus or at other assigned locations for a minimum of two (2) hours per day for a minimum of three (3) days, but not more than five (5) days, for each week of the adopted calendar. On campus, assignments include teaching, office hours, and other duties as mutually agreed upon between the professor and their division dean or designated educational administrator. This assignment may be met on Saturdays or Sundays by mutual agreement between the professor and the division dean or designated educational administrator. Professors who are assigned evening classes as a part of their regular load will not be assigned a class prior to 10:00 a.m. the following day unless mutually agreed upon by the professor and their division dean or designated educational administrator. Through a mutual agreement with the division dean or area educational administrator, the third day on campus obligation may be met through remote synchronous office hours. The annual workload is exclusive of overload and other extra pay assignments.


4-Day Campus Requirement - Faculty with more than 5 weekly hours of overload and/or extra pay assignments.


  • Per Faculty Agreement (Article 10.Q.6. Four-day Work Week: Professors who have more than five (5) weekly hours of overload and/or extra pay assignments shall be required to work a 4-day work week on campus or at other assigned locations and may be met by a minimum of two (2) hours per day for a minimum of four (4) days, for each week of the adopted calendar. On-campus assignments include professional responsibilities. Professors who are assigned evening classes as a part of their regular load will not be assigned a class prior to 10:00 a.m. the following day unless mutually agreed upon by the professor and their division dean or designated educational administrator. Through a mutual agreement with the division dean or educational administrator, professors may meet one (1) of the four (4) required on-campus days synchronously through technology communication. Technology communication shall be conducted through official College professors and student accounts.


**Per Article 18.B of the Faculty Agreement, submitting records in an accurate and timely manner is a contractual faculty obligation. Failure to submit accurate records by the established deadlines may be reflected on your faculty evaluation.**

Synchronous Option Flexibility & Restrictions:


  1. Please note that you may opt to select one or all of the above college provided technology options to provide greater access to students and the college.
  2. You are not limited to the above options, you may chose other options, provided they are synchronous and ensure that student privacy is not violated. For example, using social media apps such are Discord, Instagram, and others.
  3. Email is not considered synchronous.

Please provide a brief rationale to explain why you are requesting to meet your 3rd or 4th day remotely rather than on-campus, and how it benefits the students and the college.

I hereby acknowledge and understand that, per faculty agreement, the request to meet the 3rd or 4th day obligation remotely is subject to mutual agreement. By submitting this request, I am indicating my agreement only. The request requires the approval of the dean or area educational administrator before mutual agreement is attained.
