Currently, councils like Ōpōtiki District Council, own and operate the majority of drinking water, wastewater (sewerage) and stormwater services across New Zealand. Central Government has proposed moving those assets and operations to four new, larger entities. Ōpōtiki has been placed in Entity B. We want to hear from our communities so we can include community sentiment in our response to the Government’s proposal. There are no specific questions, just an opportunity to consider what is important to you in the provision of water services, any advantages or disadvantages you see in the reforms, any Ōpōtiki-specific considerations that may have been overlooked?
