2022 BIPOC Family Listening Sessions
The goal of the listening sessions is to gain a better understanding of the needs of our BIPOC parent's/families across the state to empower them to better support their children. To form a partnership with our BIPOC parent's/families community to accommodate their unique needs by providing them with targeted guidance.
The objectives of the listening session are to:
- Discuss students’ and parents’ equitable, diverse, and inclusive experiences with special education identification and services.
- Understand parent knowledge regarding equitable, diverse, and inclusive, special education identification and services.
- Clarify parent needs and solicit input from Colorado’s BIPOC and bilingual community.
- Utilize the information we have gathered to provide support and resources to this community.
** Registration closes two weeks before the event.
- Session 4: Friday, November 11, 2022, for SPANISH speaking families/parents (1:00 - 2:00 PM)
Please be aware that:
It is a policy in the Exceptional Student Services Unit (ESSU) that all training registrations must be closed 2 weeks prior to the event. This is deadline is in place to allow proper time to meet the accommodation needs of training participants. Additionally, registration for ESSU events is non-transferable and cannot be given to another participant.
ADA ACCOMMODATIONS: Accommodations must be requested no later than the close of registration (two weeks before the event). We are unable to guarantee any accommodations not requested by the close of registration. If you are unable to attend the event after requesting accommodations, we ask that you notify us at least 72 hours prior to the event to enable us to cancel the requested services.
