Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Director, Tanzania Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Activity
Chemonics seeks a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Director for an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Activity in Tanzania. This Activity will strengthen the health and food market systems that promote adoption of optimal nutrition and WASH-related behaviors across a range of stakeholders in targeted regions in Tanzania.
The MEL Director will support the Chief of Party in designing and implementing the MEL Plan for the activity. S/he will be responsible for leading the development and supervision of a MEL system to monitor the project’s performance through timely and quality data collection and entry. S/he will also oversee the project and data analysis and interpretation and provide technical assistance and oversight to all MEL technical activities.
Key responsibilities:
• Develop the project’s MEL plan, systems, strategies, and tools for the timely collection, management, analysis, and reporting of valid and reliable data;
• Design and develop quantitative and qualitative tools for data collection, quality assurance, analysis and reporting on activity outputs/outcomes and program quality;
• Contribute to the design and oversight of MEL technical activities, including capacity building support
• Oversee day-to-day implementation of MEL related activities;
• Monitor implementation of the learning agenda for identification of best practices and lessons learned and;
• Lead implementation of the project’s collaborative learning and adaptive (CLA) approach
Qualifications:
• Master's degree in statistics, monitoring and evaluation, demography, social science, mathematics, economics, or relevant discipline;
• Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of MEL in development projects implemented by USAID;
• Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills required;
• Management/supervisory experience;
• Strong English speaking and writing language skills
