What type of teaching style do you think will work well for you/your child? What are your goals/ambitions for music lessons? Is there anything else that would be helpful to know to effectively place the student (gender preference, learning style, special needs, etc.)?

MAC Private Music Lesson Program Policies

Thank you for choosing Multnomah Arts Center for your music lessons. Our goal is to make music a meaningful and enjoyable part of your life, and we believe that participation in the arts is essential to healthy individuals and communities. MAC's Private Music Lesson Program strives to provide high quality music educations for as many dedicated students as possible. To this end, MAC makes the following requirements, which prospective students should carefully consider before committing to lessons.

1. Practice Expectations: Students should practice often. A good guideline is to practice each day for at least the duration of your lesson. Talk to your instructor about their recommendations for you. Instructors may require purchase of additional materials not included in listed registration fee. Certain practice studios at MAC are available to currently registered students for drop-in practice!

2. Attendance Requirements: Regular attendance is important. Lessons should not be missed except in unavoidable circumstances. When a student must be absent, notify the MAC office as soon as possible.

3. Cancellations and Absences: When MAC cancels a lesson due to teacher illness, inclement weather, or other reasons, the teacher will offer the student a make-up lesson if possible, generally by extending the term one week. Sometimes the lesson may be made up by offering the student longer lessons to make up the time. If make-ups are not possible by the completion of the school year, a refund will be provided. When the student cancels or misses a lesson, the student is not eligible for a refund. The teacher is not obliged to make up the missed lesson. However, if the student has given fair notice with a good reason, the teacher may schedule a make-up at their discretion.

4. Withdrawals: Once registered, the lesson time is reserved through the end of the school year (in early June). To withdraw before then, please notify the MAC office at least seven days before the next lesson, and a pro-rated refund of paid fees will be issued for the lessons that remain in the term.

5. Lesson Change Requests: To request a change to your lesson day, time, length, or instructor, please let the front office know and they will pass along your request to the Music Coordinator.

By checking the box below, I am indicating that I have read and understood MAC's Private Lesson Program Policies as stated above. I understand the importance of regular practice and attendance. I understand lesson times are not guaranteed until confirmed with MAC staff and required tuition is paid.
