Community Program Application
At New Seasons Market, we support community organizations addressing the underlying disparities and root causes that lead to food insecurity. We understand that race is a consistent indicator of disparity in our areas of focus, and we ask organizations applying for our community programs to tell us how racial equity influences their programming. We also recognize that advocacy, food systems change, and meeting immediate food needs are integral to increasing food security, which is why we aim to support organizations working in our three focus areas:
- Food Access: Meeting the immediate needs of food insecurity by offering nourishing and culturally specific foods
- Environmental Action and Justice: Prioritizing the maintenance and renewal of our environment in support of a healthy regional food network
- Neighborhood Education: Prioritizing learning experiences for communities on the growth, nourishment, and preparation of food to increase health and well-being
Organizations are selected for our programs by a panel of New Seasons Market stakeholders using an 11-point scoring system to rate responses in the application.
- Racial Equity Question = 5 points
- Focus Area Question = 5 points
- BIPOC Led = 1 point
