OVPRI Over-The-Cap Support Request Form

Since 1990, Congress has legislatively mandated a limitation on the amount of salary that can be paid to individuals funded via NIH grant and cooperative agreement awards. Effective January 1, 2023, the salary cap per year was $212,100. This salary cap is adjusted annually. NIH funds may not be used to pay the salary of an individual at a rate in excess of the applicable annual salary cap. Please use this form to request support for faculty salaries that exceed the mandated limits on federal grants in accordance with the terms of support listed at https://research.uoregon.edu/apply/apply-external-funding/prepare/nih-salary-cap If you have more than one employee requesting over-the-cap support, please fill out a separate form for each employee. Complete forms by 4/30/24.

Please state whether the employee has a 9 month or 12 month appointment.

Reimbursement will be considered for payroll charges through 3/31/2024.

Please list the index into which you would like the funds transferred. Transfers will be posted to the default activity code for the index provided. It will be the responsibility of departments to move funds to individual activity codes, if desired.
