DIRECTIONS: Each participating district must complete this form. At the bottom of the form there is a link to create additional pages to register each participating high school and their teachers.
Bridge to College Overview
OSPI is partnering with the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC), to register high schools to offer Bridge to College Course for English and/or mathematics in the 2023-24 school year.
The Bridge courses are designed for students who are interested in attending college and would like to enter directly in to a credit-bearing course without remediation or placement testing when enrolling in college after graduation.
Districts with high schools implementing these courses are asked to support all registered teachers who are NEW to the course to participate in professional learning August 8-10, 2023 and throughout the 2023-24 school year to ensure strong course implementation. A multi-day Summer Institute in August 2023 is required for these NEW teachers. A professional development track for RETURNING teachers will also be available at the Summer Institute as one option for RETURNING teachers to retain their eligibility to teach Bridge courses.
Important Notes: The Bridge to College program is now operating on a self-support funding model, as the start-up funding from the College Spark Washington grant has ended. Schools interested in offering Bridge to College courses will now pay a registration fee for each teacher who will be offering the course. Funding will support the professional development infrastructure that is an essential part of the success of the Bridge to College courses. Registration is $1750 per teacher NEW to the course and $750 per teacher RETURNING* to the course. Districts will be invoiced in October 2023.
*For a teacher to be considered RETURNING, they must have continuously taught the course and met ongoing eligibility requirements.
The courses must be taught using the Bridge to College English and/or Bridge College Mathematics curricular materials, designated course name, and course code.
Students completing the course with a B grade or better will be considered college-ready by Washington Community and Technical Colleges (and Eastern Washington University) and permitted to enroll in an entry college-level English or mathematics course.
