Demographic Information

Griffiss Institute (GI) is a government contractor. To comply with the regulations for equal employment opportunity and affirmative action (EEO/AA), we must track our applicants by gender, race, and ethnicity for the positions for which they applied. For this reason, the GI invites each applicant to self-identify gender, race, and ethnicity. Giving us this information is entirely voluntary and not providing it will not subject you to any adverse treatment. If you choose not to self-identify at this time, the Federal government requires us to determine this information by visual survey and/or by using other available information. At the GI, we value your privacy and will keep this personal information confidential by removing this form from your employment application and maintaining it in a separate file in the Human Resources Department. We will only use this information in accordance with applicable Federal laws, executive orders, and regulations.

This information is also used to assist us in seeking out grants and other opportunities for continual funding of our programs. Please select "Prefer not to respond" to any and all questions if you would rather not provide this information.

Griffiss Institute is a Federal Government contractor subject to Section 4212 of the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended (“Section 4212”), which prohibits discrimination against, and requires Federal Government contractors to take affirmative action to employ and advance in employment: (1) disabled veterans; (2) recently separated veterans; (3) active duty wartime or campaign badge veterans; and (4) Armed Forces service medal veterans. In addition, we are required to annually report to the Federal Government on the number of veterans we hire and employ who fall into one or more of the Section 4212 veteran categories.

The following invitation to self-identify your veteran status is made pursuant to Section 4212. Disclosure of this information is completely voluntary and refusing to provide it will not subject you to any adverse treatment. The information will be kept confidential and used only in ways that are consistent with Section 4212.

The GI encourages and welcomes you to identify if you have a disability to be counted and support the company’s diversity and inclusion efforts. Ensuring that everyone has an equal employment opportunity (EEO) is the law, and as a federal contractor GI must invite applicants and employees to voluntarily identify if they have a disability. Beyond legal requirements, though, GI encourages applicants and employees to self-identify because it helps the company track its diversity and inclusion (D&I) progress and assess if changes need to be made.

The information is collected and securely maintained by human resources, and an employee’s supervisor and coworkers will never be notified. The information will never be associated with an employee’s personnel file or be accessible by anyone except select HR team members for D&I and EEO purposes only. Your answer will have no impact on hiring decisions.
