Legal Disclosure

While Cincinnati Public Schools may accept a gift or donation that is earmarked to support a particular program or a particular district employee, Ohio law and Board policy prohibit a public official or employee from accepting compensation from anyone other than the public employer they serve -- whether the funds are given to compensate the employee for a specific action or decision, or just for the general performance of the employee's public job duties. It is a violation of the Ohio Ethics Law for a CPS employee to accept compensation for performing their CPS job from anyone outside of CPS.
