CCMBM JIC Grant Development Award

DESCRIPTION:

The CCMBM Junior Investigator Grant Development Award provides funding for a junior CCMBM member to host a meeting (e.g., lunch or dinner) with 1-3 faculty members who are outside of the trainee’s current lab to:

1) brainstorm/solicit informal feedback on a study idea or research direction;

2) learn about the latest methods and techniques used in related fields;

3) identify potential collaborators;

4) promote inter-disciplinary MSK research; and

5) expand the trainee’s professional network.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

•    Number of participants: Up to 4 people (including host)

•    Applicant must be an Associate or Student CCMBM Member at UCSF (e.g., grad student, post-doc, resident, fellow, medical student)

•    Must include at least 1 faculty member

Maximum expense for food and beverages (including tax, gratuity, other fees) are:

•    Up to $62.50/person, maximum total $250 for reimbursement

•    Alcoholic beverages are not included


Required supporting document(s) for reimbursement:

•    Itemized receipts must be submitted to receive reimbursement. A valid receipt will show specifics about the purchase – what was purchased, when, where, the amount, and proof of payment. It will also show all sales tax, gratuity and fees incurred. Credit card/bank statements are not acceptable.


When hosting an event, you are expected to:

•    Follow CDC guidelines on COVID, including but not limited to social distancing, travel, hand hygiene, and quarantine expectations. Check your county for more information prior to your event, as Bay Area counties may have different expectations on COVID protocols.

•    Follow UCSF COVID protocols

•    Maintain the UCSF PRIDE values and Code of Conduct


DELIVERABLES:

Upon completion of the event, please submit a short summary (maximum of 300 words) of your experience. The CCMBM may use excerpts of the summary to publicize future embodiments of this award.
