Program Overview

The CHW CORE Training Program aims to increase the number of certified community health workers in Pennsylvania and Delaware's New Castle County. CHW CORE trainees will complete a minimum of 75 hours of online training and 300 hours of experiential learning (note that the Pennsylvania Certification Board requires a total of 2000 work experience hours for full CHW certification).


Eligibility Requirements

In order to be considered eligible to take part in the program, all participants must:


  • Be a U.S. citizen or have a visa permitting permanent residence in the U.S.
  • Have a high school degree or GED.
  • Live and/or work in Pennsylvania or New Castle County, Delaware.


***The next training cohort will begin on Monday, July 14, 2025.

“Community Health Worker” is a general term used to describe many different types of community health aides and includes: Community Health Worker, Patient Navigator, Community Health Advisor, Community Health Advocate, Navigator Promotoras, Peer Health Advisor, Outreach Worker, Peer Counselor, Community Health Representative, Lay Health Advisor, Promotora/Promotores de Salud, Peer Leader.
