SON PRIDE Response Team
Overview: The Bias Response Committee Member will serve as a vital member of our institution's efforts to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. The committee members will work closely with other members of the SON PRIDE Values Response Team (aka PRIDE RT) Committee to review, investigate, and respond to instances of bias, discrimination, and hate on campus. The committee member will also be responsible for working with students, faculty, and staff to identify and troubleshoot instances of bias.
This position is a committee service role. The committee members will play a vital role in our institution's efforts to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members of our campus community. A flat leadership structure will be used with staff and faculty co-chairing the committee. A liaison from the SON DIO and Education offices will maintain standing positions.
Recommendations:
- Two-year committee commitment
- Monthly 60-minute meetings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills or a desire to develop these skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Excellent problem-solving, restorative, and conflict-resolution skills, or a desire to develop these skills
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
