A Tale Of Two Traditions
GamFratesi in conversation with Marco Sammicheli
It is said that creative breakthroughs come from unexpected combinations – the collision of contrasting ideas, perhaps, or a collaboration across different backgrounds or disciplines. In GamFratesi, the cultural backgrounds of two architects – Danish Stine Gam and Italian Enrico Fratesi – come together to create a new hybrid design language that has given the world such enduring icons as the Beetle Chair.
Author of ‘Danish Diaries’ – an autobiographical study of design meetings between Denmark and Italy – Marco Sammicheli is the curator of the design, fashion, and crafts sector at Triennale Milano and the director of Museo del Design Italiano. Sammicheli joins GamFratesi to lead a wide-ranging discussion on the junction of two distinctive design traditions, and the often-extraordinary results – such as the Beetle in 3D veneer and the Doric Table, both newly introduced to the GUBI Collection.
