About the Artists

Jacob A. Meders (Mechoopda/Maidu), is an Associate Professor in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences at Arizona State University. Meders has a BFA in painting with a minor in printmaking from Savannah College of Art and Design and an MFA in printmaking from Arizona State University. In 2011, Meders established WarBird Press, a fine art printmaking studio that he operates as the Master Printmaker in Phoenix, AZ.

Toma Villa (Yakama Nation) is a fisherman and multidisciplinary Native artist whose practice includes painting, carving, and sculpting. He currently specializes in murals. Villa came to murals from his experience as a graffiti artist. He draws deep inspiration from his Indigenous heritage, creating artwork rich in Native narratives and Tribal motifs.
