International Student Withdrawal and Refund Request Form

*In accordance with Algoma University's International Student Refund Policy


Algoma University will process withdrawal requests in the order of submission. We do our best to expedite the refund process in a timely manner. The average refund processing time is 8-10 weeks.


Eligible refunds will be issued via PayMyTuition. Refunds will not be issued to a transferring college/university.


**Please refrain from submitting multiple requests as this will slow down the process**

Explanations:


Application Cancellation: You have not applied for your study permit and have decided not to pursue studies at Algoma University.


Visa Refusal: You have received official notice of denial from IRCC and do not wish to reapply.


Program Cancellation: You have been provided with a letter confirming that your program has been cancelled, you do not wish to change your program and are seeking a full refund.


Denial or Rescinding of Admission: You have paid your full deposit to Algoma University and then were later denied admission.


Approved Visa Cancellation: You have decided not to pursue studies in Canada and cancelled your visa.


Transfer to another DLI: You are leaving Algoma University to study at another Designated Learning Institution.


Failure to Maintain Academic Standing: You have not maintained an academic standing and are no longer an Algoma University student.


Program Completion: You have completed your final semester of study and have an account credit (i.e., overpayment).

If an international student does not fall under one of the categories set out above, but an exceptional circumstance exists (as defined in the definition section (3) of the policy), the international student may submit a request to withdraw from Algoma U and receive a refund of fees, along with supporting documentation, in accordance with the procedures. There is no guarantee that an international student will be provided with a refund as the result of an exceptional circumstance. Each request for withdrawal and a refund will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Please provide the ALGOMA UNIVERSITY email only. PayMyTuition will only use this email to process any applicable refund.

Acknowledgement 1:

I understand and acknowledge that, as per the conditions on my Study Permit, I have up to 150 days of leave between the day of departure from Algoma University or from the first day I arrived in Canada, whichever occurs last, to start of my new program at another Designated Learning Institution (DLI).

Acknowledgement 2:

For students that have not started their studies in Canada yet and are authorized to work:

I understand and acknowledge that, as per the conditions on my Study Permit, I am NOT eligible for work, on or off campus, until I begin actively studying at Algoma University or another DLI.



For students that have started their studies at Algoma University and are authorized to work:

I understand and acknowledge that, as per the conditions on my Study Permit, I am NOT eligible for work, on or off campus from the time I ceased my studies at Algoma University until I begin actively studying at another DLI. I understand that the day my studies ceased is my withdrawal date or the day of my final class/final exam, whichever occurs first.

Acknowledgement 3:

I understand and acknowledge that, as per IRCC policies, I am responsible for informing IRCC of my decision to change my DLI by transferring my DLI on my IRCC Secure Account (i.e. GCKey).


**Please note you should only make the change after you are no longer studying at Algoma University.

  • Copy of visa cancellation


f) Transferring to another Designated Learning Institution (DLI):

  • Offer letter from the other DLI (with all conditions satisfied); and
  • Study Permit and CAQ Quebec if applicable


g) Failure to Maintain Academic Standing

  • Copy of visa cancellation OR
  • Offer letter from the other DLI (with all conditions satisfied) and Study Permit and CAQ Quebec if applicable


h) Program Completion:

  • No documentation required
