Chemonics International Inc. is a US-based international development consulting firm, operating in over 80 countries. Chemonics seeks a Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID-funded Southern Africa Countering Wildlife Crime (CWC) Activity. The purpose of this five-year, $24 million activity is to reduce threats to and protect biodiversity from wildlife crimes in Southern Africa. The goals of the Activity are to improve collaboration among stakeholders, strengthen criminal justice sector capacity, reduce corruption, and increase community support and participation. This position will be based in Pretoria, South Africa. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.


We are looking for both short- and long-term technical experts in the following fields:


  • Governance, Policy, and Legislative Specialists
  • Environmental Law Enforcement and Institutional Strengthening Specialists
  • Counter-Corruption Specialists
  • Community Engagement and Inclusion Specialists
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialists
  • Collaboration, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) Specialists
  • Strategic Communications and Behavior Change Specialists
  • Adult Learning and Curriculum Development Specialists
  • Conservation Finance Specialists


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required; Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in the designated area of specialization.
  • Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of Southern African wildlife and conservation efforts;
  • Professional experience working on USAID or other international donor-funded projects related to countering wildlife crime, transboundary natural resources management, and/or biodiversity conservation.
  • Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of public and private sector counterparts, donors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required;
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with and supporting governments.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
