By submitting the Registration Form, you consent to this Limited Scope Legal Representation Agreement, and you are requesting to participate in the City of Detroit's expungement program, Project Clean Slate (PCS). You agree that you are interested in receiving information and free legal assistance from a licensed Michigan attorney regarding your eligibility for expungement. You understand and agree that participating in PCS does not guarantee expungement of your conviction(s).
If you are deemed eligible for expungement pursuant to Michigan law, you agree to:
(1) Cooperate with PCS attorneys and/or staff and/or representatives of the program;
(2) Promptly notify PCS of any changes in your address, phone number, or email address;
(3) Promptly notify PCS of any need to cancel or reschedule appointments and/or hearings;
(4) Provide complete and accurate information to PCS;
(5) Return phone calls and emails from PCS when required; and
(6) Follow through with the expungement process to completion.
Sharing Information
All PCS representatives, including attorneys, have a legal obligation to keep information about your case confidential. In order to represent you, you authorize PCS to obtain and review all documents regarding your criminal conviction(s) and criminal record.
Conflict of Interest
By submitting the Registration Form and consenting to the Limited Scope Legal Representation Agreement, you acknowledge that you are aware that no PCS attorney has performed a conflict of interest search. If you become aware of a conflict of interest or potential conflict when meeting with PCS staff or attorneys, you must inform that individual about the conflict or potential conflict immediately. If anyone associated with PCS becomes aware of a conflict of interest, that person will notify you and someone else may be assigned to assist you.
Acknowledgement of Limited Representation
By submitting the Registration Form and consenting to the Limited Scope Legal Representation Agreement, you acknowledge that PCS staff may assist you during the initial stages of expungement, but have no duty to assist you after registration. If you are deemed eligible for expungement services, PCS will assist you with your expungement efforts. Occasionally, PCS partners with pro bono (volunteer) attorneys to assist with expungement hearings. You consent to a pro bono/volunteer attorney assisting with your expungement.
